What makes nonprofit, community health plans different is what makes them leaders in the industry.
ACHP plans are driving better health outcomes and delivering better value for every health care dollar. Last week, ACHP hosted a Capitol Hill briefing to discuss the nonprofit difference in health care.
ACHP members shared the unique ways they are improving care delivery and health outcomes. UPMC Health Plan is going outside the doctor’s office to address social determinants of health. Dean Health Plan is reducing drug costs for patients by educating physicians and transitioning members to biosimilars. And Presbyterian Health Plan is combatting the opioid epidemic through community partnerships and an integrated network.
Community health plans play an integral role in the American health care system. Their mission is to improve the health of the communities they serve. As one member said,
“As a nonprofit health plan, we prioritize doing the right thing.”
