On Wednesday, January 20 at 1:30 p.m. EDT hosted a Quality Management Learning Network webinar. These are opportunities for the quality staff at ACHP’s member organizations to learn from each other around quality management and improvement. This meeting focused on respiratory health measure performance.
ACHP members have traditionally been among the leaders in the nation on HEDIS measures. One challenging area though has been asthma treatment (sometimes with large discrepancies within a plan between the two measures). Additionally some plans have seen declines on other respiratory health measures such as pharyngitis and upper respiratory treatment. Therefore members have expressed interest in learning about performance and improvement strategies in this area. First, Fallon Health in Massachusetts presented on some of their initiatives to improve the Acute Bronchitis in Adults and Pharyngitis Treatment for Children. Then Security Health Plan in Wisconsin highlighted on some of their efforts around the COPD measures. Before opening up for a discussion, ACHP analyzed the national performance on respiratory health measures. The averages for most measures have held steady or showed slight increases. After an increase last year, the asthma measures did decline. The slides from the call are attached and a recording is available here.
