Participants: Pritpal S. Tamber, MBChB, CEO & Co-Founder, Bridging Health & Community
On October 16, ACHP hosted a webinar featuring Dr. Pritpal S. Tamber of Bridging Health & Community, Inc., a Seattle-based, nonprofit organization focused on fostering a community’s ‘agency’ as a way to improve its health. Dr. Tamber shared how health care leaders have implemented this work in their own communities. He also explained “agency,” the ability to make purposeful choices. Bridging Health & Community, Inc. identified 12 principles for fostering community agency. These principles are common to innovators’ work in this area, and they describe a process that is inclusive, participatory and responsive. The organization has created a tool to apply these 12 principles in one’s community.
Bridging Health & Community, Inc. is now looking for health organizations willing to incorporate some or all of these principles into their community health strategies. Dr. Tamber noted that ACHP plans are ideal for this work because of their strong connection to their community. More information on this project is available here. Interested plans are encouraged to contact Dr. Tamber directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
