In a column for the Albuquerque Journal, Dr. Dan Duhigg, the medical director for addiction for services at Presbyterian Health Services, explains how the health system is tackling the opioid epidemic. In the column, Duhigg explains that Presbyterian Health Services has completely overhauled its care for patients with substance use disorder by launching the Substance Use Disorder and Community Collaborative Initiative. The program includes an integrated in-patient addictions medicine consult liaison team, education for clinicians across New Mexico, and weekly addiction-and-chronic-pain focused mentor and support programs for clinicians. The program was also highlighted as part of ACHP’s Transforming Care initiative.
