CLIP: Geisinger opens medication-assisted treatment clinic in Scranton

Geisinger Health System has opened its fourth medication-assisted treatment (MAT) in Pennsylvania for opioid use disorders. The new Scranton-based clinic will expand the program’s inpatient consultations, women’s health services and warm handoff protocols for timely treatment. Since 2017, nearly 2,000 patients have been treated at Geisinger’s MAT clinics, and the program has recorded an 89 percent reduction in mortality among those with opioid use disorder within the past year.
