- According to a survey by the National Business Group on Health, most big employers plan to shift a larger share of health care costs to their workers next year.
- The survey suggests that people should not expect a continuation of the same insurance package, as coverage at big companies will most likely become less affordable and more restrictive.
- More than two-thirds of employers surveyed said they will probably make their plans more costly and more than a quarter said they would make coverage less generous. 56 percent plan to make employees responsible for more of the costs next year.
- Although it is perceived that companies can save money by switching to high-deductible plans, it now appears that over time their costs rise just as fast as those for other types of coverage.
