ACHP is pleased to share its first drug cost infographic, Spike in Drug Costs: Diabetes.
One in 11 people in the U.S. currently has diabetes, and that number is expected to increase to one in three by 2050. At the same time, drug costs are rising at an unsustainable rate: In 2012 the national cost of treating diabetes hit $245 billion. Spending on diabetes medications is projected to increase by 18.3 percent over the next three years – 60 times the rate of recent income growth.
With this infographic, ACHP looks to contribute to ongoing public and congressional discussions on drug costs and their effect on society.
