With New Alliance, Plans Combine Forces For Community Health

Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan (CDPHP) and Independent Health, ACHP members out of Albany and Buffalo respectively, have announced a strategic alliance to pursue joint innovations around the Triple Aim of better health, better care and lower costs.

The plans have maintained a close relationship for nearly 30 years, serving different geographic markets in New York with like-minded approaches. Both are nationally-recognized leaders on measures of health care quality and customer service.

Under the new partnership, they will explore opportunities to innovate in their respective communities and push the health care system toward sustainable, transparent, high-value care. That work will include investing in new technology to bring care to the consumers, building tools to help providers manage entire populations and developing products that keep the patient at the center of care delivery.

In a press release, Independent Health CEO Michael Cropp, M.D., who also serves as the chair of ACHP’s board, emphasized how the alliance will enhance partnerships with providers as both plans push toward value-based pay and high-performance networks.
