Western New York’s statistics for health and wellness tell a troubling story. Many individuals and families struggle with high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer. What makes this issue even more troubling is that even with the wealth of health information and services available, many do not ask the vital questions or get the no-cost critical preventive medical services available today under the Affordable Care Act.
In order to raise awareness of this critical need, WNED-TV is launching “Target Prevention,” an initiative funded by Independent Health. Using a combination of awareness messages, the 30-minute television special teamed with online web content and community-based outreach activities, the program brings a life-saving set of messages and strategies to individuals and families.
