UPMC Makes Commitment To Address Opioid Crisis

In an attempt to battle the opioid epidemic, sixteen health plans—including ACHP member UPMC—have committed to follow the eight National Principles of Care established by Shatterproof, a non-profit, anti-addiction organization. The plans have pledged to provide universal screening for substance abuse; personalized diagnosis, assessment, and treatment planning; rapid access to care; long-term outpatient care; coordinated care for physical and mental illness; and access to non-medical recovery services.
