Tufts Health Plan Foundation Announces $1.6 Million in Grants

Watertown’s Tufts Health Plan Foundation officials announced a collective $1.6 million gift to 34 Massachusetts and Rhode Island-based recipients as part of the foundation’s first 2013 funding cycle.

Many recipient organizations are local to Watertown. The foundation awarded more than 25 percent of its grants in the area of “Purposeful Engagement,” which includes community involvement, volunteerism and intergenerational programs, as well as caregiver support programs. Two state-wide “Empowerment” programs in Massachusetts also received funding for campaigns targeted at educating older adults about taking control of their health.
