Soccer for Success Program Awarded Additional Funding from the U.S. Soccer Foundation

The U. S. Soccer Foundation has awarded Soccer for Success, a program created by the Independent Health Foundation in conjunction with the Buffalo Soccer Club and United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, N.Y., $250,000 through a social innovation fund sub-grant. Thanks to the award, more than 1,000 children from the city of Buffalo will be able to continue participating in the free, nationally-recognized program through the end of the 2015-2016 school year. Created in 2012, Soccer for Success uses soccer as a tool to provide structured physician activity and nutrition to children ages 6 to 14 in underserved urban communities and is held in 20 sites across the Buffalo area.
