TRIA Orthopaedic Center and the Minnesota Vikings, along with HealthPartners Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and NovaCare Rehabilitation, teamed up this past season to provide certified athletic training coverage for high school football programs across the Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., school districts. Thanks to a $25,000 grant from the National Football League Foundation and a matching donation from Vikings ownership, athletic trainers were able to provide sideline care education across 13 schools. In addition, athletic trainers conducted neurocognitive baseline testing as a tool to aid in concussion management, and worked with coaches to create emergency action plans. With approximately 12,000 students enrolled across 13 schools, the partnership is one the largest of its kind in the country.
