Key players in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in Colorado delivered one consistent message Friday morning: reforming the health care system in the United States is a marathon, not a sprint.
Steve ErkenBrack, president of Rocky Mountain Health Plans and a board member for Connect for Health Colorado, emphasized the enormous demands being made on the health insurance industry in a relatively short time period. “For the first time ever in the U.S., everyone who wants health insurance can have it,” he pointed out. That fundamental change is extremely disruptive to the system, he said. “This is not a one- to three-month process. It’s a multi-year process.”
