Kaiser Permanente Research Method Has Potential to Transform U.S. Health Care System

Kaiser Permanente has received recognition for its efforts in an emerging field known as “comparative effectiveness research.” When using this method, researchers compare options to determine which drugs or treatment best serve patients rather than simply analyzing whether they work. Many experts believe the approach has potential to transform the U.S. health system and under national health reforms, the federal government will spend $3.5 billion on it through 2019.
