Innovative Programs That Improve Health Care in Their Communities

Last year, Tufts Health Plan created the Quality Innovation Awards to acknowledge health care organizations committed to bettering health care quality in novel, creative ways. This year, Tufts Health Plan honored two local organizations: Gosnold on Cape Cod (Falmouth, Mass.) and Whittier Street Health Center (Roxbury, Mass.).Gosnold received the award for its Young Adult Opiate Program, which administers personalized approaches to young adults  recovering from opioid addiction. Whittier Street Health Center received the award for the Cardiovascular Community Health Ambassador Program, which  was developed to address the disparities in heart disease and access to care faced by many African American and Latino residents of Boston and tackles inequalities underlying access to care in Boston
