Group Health’s Central Hospital Earns Baby-Friendly Designation

Group Health Cooperative’s Central Hospital has been awarded the Baby-Friendly hospital designation – making Group Health’s Family Beginnings Birthing Center one of only two childbirth centers in Seattle to receive this accolade.

Baby-Friendly, a global initiative sponsored by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer top-notch care to breastfeeding mothers and their babies. The Baby-Friendly designation is awarded to birthing facilities that meet rigorous standards based on the initiative’s ten steps for successful breastfeeding. There are more than 19,000 Baby-Friendly facilities worldwide and 165 within the United States.
