Geisinger Finds Telemedicine Cuts Readmissions, Costs for Heart Failure Patients

A study conducted found Geisinger Health Plan’s telemonitoring program reduced hospital readmissions rates for heart failure patients. The survey of 541 patients found that those being monitored had a 23 percent lower risk of hospital readmission in any given month during the period studied. The study will be published in the December issue of Population Health Management. Susan D. Hall of FierceHealthIT covers the story.
