Arapahoe County, Kaiser Permanente and State of Colorado Tackle Prescription Drug Abuse

Arapahoe County, Kaiser Permanente Colorado and Colorado officials urged residents to help combat prescription drug abuse by safely disposing of unused drugs in drop-off locations throughout Arapahoe County on Sept. 27, National Prescription Drug Take Back Drug Day. Since 2013, Arapahoe County has been working with coalition community leaders, including doctors and administrators from Kaiser Permanente, to address abuse of prescription pain medications, such as oxycodone. The task force, co-chaired by Kaiser Permanente Vice President of Government, External Relations and Research Jandel Allen-Davis, M.D., and other community organizations, is working to address this problem through enhanced law enforcement, doctor and pharmacist education, public awareness and legislative action.
