New Blood Pressure Treatments Are Emerging

Patients who monitor their blood pressure at home and discuss the results with a pharmacist can make dramatic progress against hypertension, according to a study that could chart a new course in treating the nation’s most common and costly chronic ailment. The study conducted by HealthPartners and published today in The Journal of the American Medical Association found 57 percent of those using the new technique brought their blood pressure to a healthy range, compared to 30 percent in the control group.
