There is a great deal we can learn in our efforts for continuous improvement, and I believe there is a lot we can teach. We’re excited to be part of a group whose aspirations for better quality health care align with our own.”
“ACHP knew a lot about how we performed on the quality rankings and used a tool it created to show us precisely where we could get even better,” said Steve Youso, Security Health Plan’s Chief Administrative Officer. “This level of insight is extremely valuable to us. We’re happy to be on board and look forward to working with so many ofAmerica’s best health plans on issues that affect each of our organizations.”
Independent Health’s commercial and Medicare plans scored a perfect five stars on the “Access to Care” and “Overall Member Satisfaction” categories of US News & World Report’s “Best Health Plans 2005” rankings. Its Medicaid plan received top billing for “Access to Care” and “Prevention.” Security Health Plan’s commercial offering also received five-star ratings on “Access to Care” and “Prevention.”
ACHP and its members developed the initial measures of health plan quality that are now administered by the independent NCQA and are the basis of US News & World Report’s “Best Health Plans 2005” quality rankings. Today, ACHP develops interactive tools and other resources to help members assess the quality of care they provide and develop strategies to help promote even better performance.
