Dennis Batey, MD and Nancy Van Vessem, MD Join ACHP’s Board of Directors as Newest Members

Michael Ostrov, MD named Chair of ACHP’s Medical Directors Council

WASHINGTON, D.C.The Alliance of Community Health Plans’ today announced that its Board of Directors has named Dennis Batey, MD and Nancy Van Vessem, MD its newest members.  Dr. Batey is Medical Director at Worcester, MA-based Fallon Community Health Plan.  Dr. Van Vessem is Chief Medical Officer at Tallahassee, FL-based Capital Health Plan (CHP).

Prior to joining Fallon Community Health Plan, Dr. Batey was President and CEO of Baltimore, MD-based Preferred Health Network.  Dr. Batey has practiced medicine for more than 10 years and has held multiple positions at health plans.  Last year, the independent National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) named Fallon Community Health Plan one of the ten best Medicare health plans in the country. 

Dr. Van Vessem joined CHP in 1994.  She has developed innovative disease management and quality improvement programs promoting the use of best evidence medicine and propelling CHP to national recognition for quality of care.  Last year, NCQA named CHP one of the ten best Medicare health plans in the country.

ACHP also today announced that Michael Ostrov, MD, Medical Director at Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHCSCW) and a member of ACHP’s Board of Directors, has been named chair of ACHP’s Medical Directors Council.  Dr. Ostrov succeeds Joe Fox, former Medical Director of Indianapolis, Indiana-based M•Plan.  GHCSCW has achieved ‘Excellent’ accreditation status by NCQA and recognition as one of the top ten highest quality health plans in the nation.
