Alliance of Community Health Plans Welcomes UPMC Health Plan As Newest Member

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) today announced that Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based UPMC Health Plan has become its newest member.

“The addition of UPMC Health Plan strengthens our Alliance,” said Cheryl Scott, president and chief executive officer of Group Health Cooperative and chair of ACHP’s board of directors. “Their commitment to safe, affordable health coverage mirrors the mission of ACHP- improving health care quality throughout the United States. We’re pleased to have them on board.”

UPMC Health Plan is a provider-led organization serving nearly 435,000 members through a network of over 80 hospitals and more than 6,500 physicians in 28 counties of western Pennsylvania.

The plan is a subsidiary of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the largest employer in western Pennsylvania and one of the nation’s premier health care delivery organizations.

“We’re excited by the prospects of our new partnership with ACHP,” said Diane P. Holder, president of UPMC Health Plan. “If you give doctors the right tools, they’ll give the community the best care.  ACHP’s learning programs are a unique opportunity for us to band together with colleagues at similar groups, share information, and put it to good use.”

With the addition of UPMC Health Plan as a member, ACHP is comprised of 13 member organizations from 10 states.
