Alliance of Community Health Plans Welcome New CMS Administrator

Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2017) – The Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) released a statement today welcoming Seema Verma as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). ACHP President and CEO Ceci Connolly issued the below statement on the confirmation:

“ACHP congratulates Seema Verma for taking on the challenging role of CMS administrator. The position requires a true balancing act, overseeing coverage issues, making difficult financial considerations and ensuring that over 100 million Americans who get their health care through Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP or the markets continue to receive the care that they need.  Our member health plans provide coverage and care for nearly 19 million Americans across 27 states and the District of Columbia, all of which have a significant stake in the decisions made and implemented by CMS.

We look forward to working with Ms. Verma towards our shared priorities of quality, access and affordability of care during what is a particularly uncertain time in health care.”
