WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jack Ebeler, President and CEO of the Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP), issued the following statement in reaction to the Senate’s approval today of its fiscal year 2006 budget reconciliation package:
“We applaud the Senate for endorsing the idea that health plans, hospitals and physicians should be paid more when they provide better care to Medicare beneficiaries. Today’s vote is a clear indication that Medicare is no longer willing to accept mediocre health care quality.
“As reconciliation continues, we look forward to working with Congress to ensure that pay for performance is sustainable now and for years to come. A dedicated financial commitment is essential to the long-term success of the program.”
