Benefits of Membership
Alliance of Community Health Plans members enjoy numerous benefits, which help them identify clinical, marketplace, operational and policy opportunities, overcome challenges and strengthen their organizations. Above all else, membership in ACHP is an opportunity to shape the future of health care at the plan level and nationally. The many benefits of membership include:
Expert analysis of important policy and marketplace trends to help members set internal priorities.
ACHP's seasoned team of professionals worked at health plans and in various policy roles before they joined the organization. Our strategic location in
A powerful voice in the federal policymaking process.
Our members are leaders in quality measurement and public reporting, health care information technology, preventive care, chronic care coordination, pay for performance and more. ACHP advocates for policies to improve the health and health care of all Americans that are grounded in the members' collective experience in their communities. We are a leading voice on Capitol Hill and at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other agencies. Our highest policy priority is the adoption of a performance-based payment system in Medicare. We were also instrumental in promoting rigorous, comparable "apples-to-apples" quality reporting standards for all Medicare Advantage plans, including the new regional PPOs. More information about our public policy program is available here.
Unlimited participation in ACHP programs -- the yearly membership fee covers the entire cost of all scheduled Web conferences, conference calls and meetings.
We organize a robust and diverse agenda of Web conferences, meetings and conference calls each year, which typically feature experts from across our membership. Most of our programs address topics of interest to a broad variety of health plan staff, while others, such as Legislative Committee conference calls, are meant for specific groups of professionals. There are no limits to the number of staff members from member organizations that can participate in ACHP programming. We organize programs in the following areas: clinical innovations, marketplace innovations (including marketing and communications), analysis and public policy. Topics are as diverse as improving health plan customer service quality, starting an ASO/self-funded product or discussing the provisions and implications of small market reform legislation in Congress. Learn more on our Web site, which lists upcoming offerings directly on the homepage. There is also a comprehensive events calendar.
Personalized service and attention to members' needs.
Unlike larger health care associations that do not have the time or the resources to work with their members on an individual basis, ACHP offers a number of personalized services included in the cost of membership. An area of particular strength is our ability to analyze and explain a health plan's performance on clinical and service indicators and help plans prioritize improvement opportunities. We also work with plans that have policy, operational and marketplace-related questions and invite our members to ask us questions in any area of their work. When we receive a new member query, we will investigate the issue, talk to other ACHP members and/or external contacts and deliver our findings over the phone or in a formal report. If a number of members are asking questions about the same issue, we will initiate an Innovation Summary and distribute our findings broadly among the membership. We also organize informal working groups of members with similar questions and work toward solutions.
Unlimited access to quantitative and qualitative research to help members understand and improve clinical, service and financial performance.
ACHP developed a series of interactive databases called HealthPlan Performance Gauges to help members understand their clinical, service and financial performance over time and identify the greatest opportunities for improvement. We also work with members to develop customized performance and improvement profiles and produce a library of qualitative research, grounded in our members research questions. The HealthPlan Performance Gauges, Innovation Summaries, Member Queries, other analyses and additional research resources are housed on the password-protected portion of our Web site, www.achp.org.
Unlimited access to our online archive of Web conference recordings, conference call summaries, meeting reports and policy and other documents.
ACHP compiles recordings of all Web conferences and slides from every presentation, and prepares summaries of meetings and conference calls. The result is an in-depth library of information with hundreds of teachings to improve health care and our members organizations. Members can access this information on the password-protected portion of our Web site, www.achp.org.
Opportunities to network with colleagues from
ACHP membership presents CEOs and other health plan officials with significant opportunities to network with colleagues from other high-performing plans around the country. Many of our members have said that exposure to likeminded peers at other organizations and the opportunity to discuss challenges and opportunities with them is one of the most valuable aspects of membership.
